Beneficiaries of Old-Age and Disability Pension are Required to Provide the Proof of Life in January 2019

2018-12-31

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to “FSS” in Macao) reminds members of the public that beneficiaries currently receiving old-age or disability pension from the FSS are required to provide proof of life in January each year, and about 110,000 people will be involved for 2019.  Beneficiaries who have registered to receive SMS alerts will receive the SMS notification, whereas beneficiaries who have not registered to use the service may also sign up for the service when they go to the FSS to provide proof of life in person.

Beginning on 2 January 2019, beneficiaries of old-age and disability pension can provide proof of life via self-service machines located at more than 40 locations in Macao using their valid Macao SAR Resident ID Cards.  If a beneficiary is also the beneficiary of Social Welfare Bureau and/or the Pension Fund, he or she can provide proof of life for the three departments at one time via a self-service machine.

Beneficiaries can also bring their valid Macao SAR Resident ID Cards with them to provide proof of life in person at the following locations (see Annexe 1 for details) during office hours of January:

l  Macau Holy House of Mercy Albergue;

l  Areia Preta Service Centre of the Macao SAR;

l  Central and Southern District (Patane) Social Service Centre, Northwest District (Ilha Verde) Social Service Centre and Northern District (Tamagnini Barbosa) Social Service Centre under the Social Welfare Bureau;

l  Outlying Office (Edifício do Lago) and Seac Pai Van Office (Edifício Ip Heng) of the Housing Bureau.

Beneficiaries of old-age pension or disability pension who are currently residing in Guangdong Province may request a proof of life document at all levels of the social insurance agencies in the province.  The addresses of the agencies can be found on the Proof of Life webpage on the website of the FSS at www.fss.gov.mo.  Beneficiaries only need to bring their valid Macao SAR Resident ID Cards with them to visit the agency and they will be given a verification form as proof of life issued by the agency.  To complete the procedure of providing proof of life, the beneficiary needs to submit to the FSS, either by mail or through a representative, the original copy of the above verification form together with a photocopy of his/her ID card.

As for beneficiaries residing in other provinces of mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan region or abroad, they can submit the required documents to the FSS, either by mail or through a representative.

In addition, for beneficiaries residing in Macao but, due to a serious illness, cannot move on their own to go through the formalities in person, they can entrust someone to submit on their behalf the certification issued in 2019 by a hospital or a local residential care home for the elderly, or a medical certificate issued by a medical practitioner registered in Macao certifying that he or she has provided medical consultation for the beneficiary in 2019.

If a beneficiary entrusts someone to submit the proof of life on his or her behalf, this person is required to present, at the time of document submission, his or her original ID card and a photocopy of the beneficiary’s ID card for verification.
