2017-07-10

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced last month the name list for the special allocation of funds from budget surplus 2017 for the provident fund individual accounts.  This year, only those who are not included on the list for the first time or those who are 65 years of age and not included on the name list will receive a notice.  The FSS reminds members of the public to check the list as early as possible and individuals excluded from the list may file an objection statement to the FSS.

Members of the public can visit the website of the FSS at www.fss.gov.mo, call our 24-hour interactive voice response hotline 2823 0230, use the self-service machines or visit all service points of the FSS for making enquiries.  As of June 30, 362,192 individuals were included on the list and 136,111 were excluded, and the FSS received more than 3,000 objection statements in total.

For individuals who stayed in the Macao SAR for less than 183 days in 2016 due to the following reasons and were not included on the name list of special allocation of budget surplus 2017, they may file an objection statement:

(5)   He/she worked outside the Macao SAR for an employer registered with the FSS;
(6)   He/she worked outside the Macao SAR in order to bear the main living expenses of his/her spouse, any degree of lineal consanguinity or affinity who resided in the Macao SAR;
(7)   He/she performed official duties, performed duties for the Macao SAR or discharged other official duties;
(8)   He/she had humanitarian or other duly substantiated reasons (subject to the approval of the Chief Executive).

The properly completed objection statement form together with the relevant supporting documentation must be returned to the following locations:

(2)   Areia Preta Service Centre of the Macao SAR;

The prescription of claiming the right to receive the funds of 2017 is three years, i.e., the right will expire on 31 December 2020.  Late filing of the objection statement will result in the invalidity of the right.  The FSS reminds the individuals concerned to file an objection statement as soon as possible.
