The Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR (the Department) previously paid a visit to the Social Security Fund (FSS) in order to understand the current situation of the Social Security System in Macao and the direction of its future development.

A four-member delegation of the Department led by Ministerial Assistant Gao Shangde paid a visit to the FSS on 15 August and were warmly received by Ip Peng Kin, President of the FSS Administrative Committee, Chan Pou Wan, Vice-President, Chan Pou I, Head of Contribution Division and Kuong Kuong Hong, Head of Benefits Division. The delegation included Wang Jiabao, Director of the Department, Zuo Xianghua, Deputy Director and Wang Wenning, the Assistant. Gao Shangde said that the Central Government pays close attention to the social and livelihood of the Macao SAR under the environment of intensifying inflation, hoping that through this visit, they can learn more about the social security and welfare measures in Macao.

During the meeting, Ip Peng Kin introduced to the representatives of the Department the proposal of raising the amounts of old-age pension payment and contribution in the future. Chan Pou I, Head of Contribution Division, also introduced the double-tier Social Security System in Macao and the operations of the FSS. Both sides exchanged views on the development of the Social Security System and the implementation and operations of the Central Provident Fund System.
