2014-10-20

The Social Security Fund (FSS) announced that as at October 15th, 40,530 applications for making withdrawals from the Provident Fund Individual Accounts were received.  Of which, 19,398 applications submitted by senior citizens aged 75 or above, individuals who are receiving disability pension from the FSS for more than one year and those who are receiving special disability subsidy from the Social Welfare Bureau (SWB) were approved.  The payment will be transferred to the relevant accounts tomorrow (October 21st), and the FSS has already begun to send written notifications to the above individuals.

Under the provisions of the relevant law, Individual Account Owners eligible for making withdrawals can apply for withdrawal from the Accounts once a year.  Like last year, the FSS also received the applications in stages by age group this year.  As at October 15th, the approval process of most applications during the first phase, which are submitted by senior citizens aged 75 or above, individuals who are receiving disability pension from the FSS for more than one year and those who are receiving special disability subsidy from the SWB, has been completed.  The payment will be deposited into the bank accounts provided by 19,398 eligible applicants tomorrow (October 21st).

As for the remaining cases which are pending approval due to incomplete information on the application forms or supplementary documents required, the FSS will process the applications as soon as possible.   And for senior citizens aged between 65 and 74 who submitted their applications during the second phase and got the approval from the FSS, they will receive the money on November 18th at the earliest.
