All Social Service Centres to Stop Providing Provident Fund Services From October

2017-09-29

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced that the temporary service counters at all Social Service Centres for the provision of FSS’ provident fund individual account services will be closed from October.  Members of the public can visit the service points designated by the FSS or visit the Public Service Centres, or use the self-service machines for the related services.

The temporary counters at the Social Service Centres under the Social Welfare Bureau (SWB) for the provision of FSS’ provident fund individual account services of the FSS will be closed from 1 October.  By then, members of the public can visit the temporary office of the FSS at Tap Seac, Areia Preta Service Centre of the Macao SAR (Area of Social Security and Employment), Islands District Public Service Centre and Central District Public Service Centre under the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, or use the self-service machines that are set up at 45 locations in all districts of Macao for enquiries and for applying to withdraw the funds.

Beginning in August, the FSS began accepting, in stages by age group, the applications for the withdrawal of funds from eligible provident fund individual account owners who are on the name list of special allocation from budget surplus 2017.  As of 22 September, the FSS has received a total of about 48,000 applications for the withdrawal of funds, which is about 80% of the eligible applicants.  For those who have submitted the applications, if they are aged 75 or older, or they have been receiving disability pension from the FSS for more than one year or they are currently receiving special disability subsidy from the SWB, they will receive the money on 24 October, and for applicants between age 65 and 74, they will receive the money on 23 November.

The FSS has announced in June the name list of special allocation of funds from budget surplus 2017 for the provident fund individual accounts.  Those who are not included on the list for the first time or those who are not on the list and are aged 65 or older will receive a notice.  The FSS called on members of the public to check the list as soon as possible, and those who are not included on the list may file an objection statement.

For members of the public who want to check the name list of special allocation from budget surplus 2017 for the provident fund individual accounts or to get more information, they can visit the website of the FSS at www.fss.gov.mo/en/eservice/r1-2017 or call 2853 2850 during office hours.
