More than 100,000 People Already Provided the Proof of Life to FSS, High Proportion Using the Methods of Self-Service Machine and “My Government Account of Macao SAR”

2021-01-13

According to the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao), of the approximately 132,000 old-age and disability pension beneficiaries who are required to provide the proof of life in 2021, more than 100,000 beneficiaries have already completed the relevant procedures.  Among them, the number of people who have provided the proof of life by way of the newly launched facial recognition technology on “My Government Account of Macao SAR” mobile application accounts for 25%.  The FSS will send mobile text message (SMS) reminders this week to those who have not yet provided the proof of life.

As of today’s noon (13 January), about 108,000 old-age and disabilitiy pension beneficiaries have already completed the procedures for providing the proof of life.  Among them, the number of people who have provided the proof of life using self-service machines and “My Government Account of the Macao SAR” mobile application accounts for 74%.  This number shows that the provision of the proof of life by way of self-service machine and “My Government Account of the Macao SAR” mobile application is widely welcomed by residents, who can avoid the inconvenience of queuing in person and can also reduce pressure on frontline reception.

From tomorrow (14 January), the FSS will send SMS to beneficiaries who have provided their mobile phone numbers for receiving reminders but have not yet provided for the proof of life, reminding them that they must do it in January.  Since “My Government Account of Macao SAR” has allowed mobile phone numbers of places outside Macao to receive verification codes for account opening, the FSS encourages people staying outside Macao to choose “My Government Account of Macao SAR” mobile application to provide the proof of life by facial recognition technology, so as  to avoid the inconvenience of mailing documents or travelling around.
