October is one of the contribution months of the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao).  Beneficiaries of the arbitrary system are required to make their contribution payment in the contribution months. At present, there are totally nine designated banks in Macao that provide Autopay service for contribution payment.  Among them, six banks also provide other payment channels such as JETCO automatic teller machines (ATMs) and online banking.  Members of the public can make better use of these payment channels in order to save time as well as to play a part in protecting our environment.

For the convenience of the beneficiaries of the arbitrary system, the FSS has begun to increase in recent years the number of banks that accept the quarterly payment of contributions.  At present, there are nine banks that accept the FSS contribution payment and provide Autopay service for such payment and these banks include: Bank of China Macau Branch, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Banco Comercial de Macau, Tai Fung Bank, Macau Chinese Bank, Luso International Banking Limited, Delta Asia Bank, Banco Nacional Ultramarino and OCBC Wing Hang Bank.

For those who have never paid contributions via the Autopay service, they just need to come to the said banks to request the relevant service on or before September 30^th, and then they can start to use the Autopay service to pay the contributions in October.

In addition, beneficiaries of the arbitrary system can also pay contributions via ATMs printed with JETCO logo or online banking of Bank of China Macau Branch, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Banco Comercial de Macau, Tai Fung Bank, Banco Nacional Ultramarino and OCBC Wing Hang Bank, or via the BOC EXPRESS (a kind of self-service machine of the Bank of China).

Under the law, if a beneficiary fails to pay the contributions of the arbitrary system on time in the contribution month, he/she must rectify the default contributions within two months after the expiry of the statutory payment period, with an additional late payment interest of 3% per month on the amount of overdue contributions (where a fraction of a month shall be counted as a full month and the minimum amount of late payment interest is 50 patacas).
