If old-age or disability pension recipients residing outside Macao are unable to appear in person to complete the Proof of Life procedure, what should they do?
- beneficiaries are unable to appear in person, they may log in to the “Macao One Account” mobile application and complete the procedure using facial recognition. If the beneficiary’s spouse, parents, or children have already activated a “Macao One Account”, they may also log in to their own account to assist the beneficiary in completing the procedure; or
- Beneficiaries may ask someone to submit the Proof of Life documents on their behalf. For acceptable document types and contents, please refer to the "Proof of Life" page on the Social Security Fund website; or
- If beneficiaries do not have someone in Macao to submit on their behalf, they may send the Proof of Life documents by post to the Social Security Fund (Address: P.O. Box 3094, Macao). For acceptable document types and contents, please refer to the "Proof of Life"page on the Social Security Fund website; or
- If the beneficiary currently resides in Guangdong Province, they may present their valid Macao SAR Resident ID Card in person at social insurance agencies at all levels in Guangdong Province to complete the Guangdong–Macao Proof of Life Verification procedure. Once completed, the local agency will directly forward the Proof of Life information to the Macao Social Security Fund. In addition, beneficiaries may also use the Macao SAR Government’s “E-Government Services of the Macao SAR” self-service kiosks located in several cities in Guangdong Province to complete the procedure.
If a beneficiary is unable to provide proof of life in January, will this affect his/her pension payment? How can the beneficiary provide proof of life afterward?
If the proof of life is not provided by the end of March of that year, the pension payment will be suspended from April. After providing proof of life afterward, the pension payment to which the beneficiary is entitled can be resumed. Beneficiaries are advised to provide proof of life using the “Macao One Account” mobile application or self-service kiosk as much as possible.
How can a beneficiary provide proof of life through the mobile application? Can it be done outside Macao?
To provide proof of life, whether a beneficiary is in Macao or outside, he/she only needs to log in to the "Macao One Account" mobile app, and select the “Proof of Life” service. Please refer to the "Macao One Account" mobile application for detailed procedures.
If a senior citizen has not yet opened “Macao One Account” individual account or has forgotten his/her username/password, how can he/she provide proof of life using the mobile application?
- If a beneficiary has not yet opened a "Macao One Account", he/she can do so online immediately.
- If a beneficiary’s spouse or immediate family member (parents/children) has a "Macao One Account", he/she can assist the beneficiary in providing proof of life with his/her account. The account holder only needs to log in to the mobile application and select the "Provide with the assistance of the beneficiary's spouse/father/mother/son/daughter” option from the Ways to Provide Proof of Life and enter the ID card information of the beneficiary who needs to provide proof of life , to assist the beneficiary in providing proof of life through facial recognition.

What should I do if I am unable to provide proof of life successfully on a self-service kiosk with my fingerprint?
If a beneficiary provides proof of life using a self-service kiosk, and he/she has tried the fingerprints of both left and right hands but is still unsuccessful, the screen will automatically switch to the facial recognition system. The beneficiary can then follow the instructions on the screen to provide proof of life through facial recognition. Suppose the beneficiary is unable to do it successfully. In that case, he/she may seek assistance from the staff there, or visit a service point of the Social Security Fund to provide proof of life in person if he/she is still unable to provide it in the end.
How to check and confirm whether the Proof of Life procedure has been completed? Is there a receipt or an acknowledgement slip?
- Beneficiaries who complete the procedure using self-service kiosks can obtain a receipt from the kiosk showing the details and outcome of the process.
- If the procedure is completed through the “Macao One Account” mobile application, beneficiaries may take a screenshot of the confirmation screen or opt to receive an instant SMS notification upon completion. In addition, the beneficiary and their family members (spouse, parents, children) may subsequently log in to the “Macao One Account” mobile application and use the “Enquiry” function to check the beneficiary’s processing status at any time.
- Beneficiaries who complete the Proof of Life procedure by submitting documents may log in to the Social Security Fund website through “Macao One Account” to check the status from the last working day of the following month after all documents have been submitted.
If a beneficiary dies in January, will he/she be paid the old-age or disability pension?
According to the law, a beneficiary is entitled to receive old-age/disability pension until the month of death. Therefore, a beneficiary who dies in January can still receive the old-age/disability pension of January and the additional payment. Since old-age/disability pension is paid quarterly, the payments for January to March would have already been paid in mid-January. If a beneficiary dies in January, his/her family member should immediately notify the Social Security Fund with the beneficiary's death certificate and return the improperly received benefits (the payments for February and March).
What should a beneficiary do if he/she wants to receive a “Reminder for Providing Proof of Life” via mobile text messages (SMS) in the future?
The beneficiary may log in to the Social Security Fund's E-service Platform (https://www.fss.gov.mo/en/eservice) using the "Macao One Account", or complete the "Change of Personal Particulars Form" to register the phone number for receiving mobile text messages (SMS).
