FSS Adds a SMS Alert Service about the Start of Employment

2019-06-10

According to the relevant regulations, employers are required to report information on the newly hired employees to the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao), and to pay obligatory system contributions for their employees on time.  In order to facilitate employees to know about the report status of their new employment, the FSS started to send mobile text message (SMS) notifications in June to beneficiaries who started their work as long-term employees during the previous calendar quarter.

At present, for an employee enrolling as a beneficiary of the FSS for the first time, his or her employer is required to enrol him or her by submitting the Form for Enrollment of Beneficiary (Local Employee) duly signed by both employer and employee, together with a photocopy of the employee’s Macao SAR Resident Identity Card so that the employee can know that the employer is reporting his or her new employment to the FSS.

In order to let employees already enrolled as beneficiaries further understand the report status of their new employment, the FSS launched a “SMS Alert Service about the Start of Employment” in June 2019 to send SMS notifications to employees who have already registered their mobile phone numbers for receiving SMS and who have also started their work as long-term employees during the previous calendar quarter.  The SMS will show the name of the employer who reports the employee’s entry and the calendar quarter of starting the employment, and it will also remind the employee to check his or her contribution records through electronic channels such as the self-service machine or “Conta Única de Acesso Comum” Mobile Application.

Residents who wish to receive SMS notifications can download the Change of Personal Particulars Form from the FSS website at www.fss.gov.mo, and fill in the information.  Then submit the duly completed form and a photocopy of the ID card to register for the service in one of the following ways:

  1. Email:  at@fss.gov.mo;
  2. Fax: (853) 2853 2840;
  3. Mail:  Social Security Fund (Alameda Dr. Carlos d'Assumpção, Nos. 249-263,  Edf. China Civil Plaza, 18º, Macau);
  4. Submit the form and documents to a service point of the FSS, either in person or through a representative.

To protect individual social security rights and interests, the FSS encourages members of the public to regularly check their personal contribution records.  If you find that your contribution record is abnormal, you should immediately report to the FSS.  For enquiries, please call 2853 2850 during office hours.
