FSS calls on members of the public to avail themselves of the use of self-service kiosks to perform the “Proof of life”

2012-01-04

The Social Security Fund (FSS) said that on the first day (3 January) of performing the “Proof of life” of 2012, there were a total of 5,624 people who performed the “Proof of life” this year, of which 1,280 performed through the self-service kiosks. The FSS calls on the beneficiaries of old-age and disability pension to avail themselves of the use of the self-service kiosks distributed in 26 locations in Macao to perform their “Proof of life”.

Beneficiaries of the FSS old-age or disability pensions are required to perform the “Proof of life” in January each year. There are 57,400 beneficiaries who need to perform the “Proof of life” this year. On the first working day, a total of 4,344 people performed the “Proof of life” at the 9 service points, which include Albergue of the Macao Holy House of Mercy, Areia Preta Service Centre of Macao SAR, Islands District Public Services Centre of Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, General Union of Neighbors Association of Macao (a total of 3 service points) and Federation of Trade Unions of Macao (a total of 3 service points). There were 1,280 people who performed the “Proof of life” through the 26 self-service kiosks in Macao.

As the time limit to perform the “Proof of life” is a month-long and there are 26 self-service kiosks for performing the "Proof of life" newly installed in different parts of Macao, which include the health centres, ports of entry, social work centres, etc., the FSS calls on the beneficiaries concerned who have received notification letters from the FSS to read the letter carefully for the locations of the self-service kiosks and the service points before choosing a nearby location to perform the “Proof of life”. All notification letters will be sent out within this week and are expected to reach the beneficiaries by next Friday at the latest.

The beneficiaries who, due to serious illness, cannot perform the “Proof of life” because they are unable to move about freely on their own, their trustee can bring the beneficiaries’ “Proof of life notification” with the medical certificate overleaf being completed by a medical practitioner registered in Macao, together with the original/photocopy of the Macao SAR Resident Identity Card (BIR) of the beneficiaries to any one of the service points. For beneficiaries who cannot return to Macao to perform the “Proof of life” because they habitually resided in the Mainland or overseas, besides the photocopy of the beneficiary’s BIR and the way of contact of the contact person in Macao being mailed or submitted by their trustee, it is also required to submit the certifying documents issued by the relevant authority in the Mainland, or a confirmation form or notarial certificate of existence issued by the Chinese Consulate where they reside.

For further information about the “Proof of life”, members of the public can visit the FSS website at www.fss.gov.mo, or call 2853 2850 during office hours for enquiry.
