The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to “FSS” in Macao) said that all beneficiaries who receive old-age or disability pension from the FSS are required to provide the proof of life in January of each year.  According to statistics, as of 31 December 2017, about 107,000 people were involved, of whom 94,000 people have already provided the proof of life, accounting for about 88%.  The FSS calls for the remaining beneficiaries to complete the formalities as soon as possible so as to ensure the continuity of the old-age pension and disability pension payment.

The FSS encourages beneficiaries to use self-service machines located at 43 locations in Macao to provide the proof of life.  Currently, 60% of the beneficiaries who have already provided the proof of life use self-service machines.  If a beneficiary is also the beneficiary of Social Welfare Bureau and/or Pension Fund, he/she can provide the proof of life for the three departments at one time through the self-service machine.  To provide the proof of life in person, beneficiaries can visit the following locations (see Annexe 1 for details) :

l  Macau Holy House of Mercy Albergue;

l  Areia Preta Service Centre of the Macao SAR;

l  Northwest District (Ilha Verde) Social Service Centre, Northern District (Tamagnini Barbosa) Social Service Centre, Central District (Lam Mau Tong) Social Service Centre, Southern District (Praia do Manduco) Social Service Centre of the Social Welfare Bureau;

l  Outlying Office (Edifício do Lago) and Seac Pai Van Office (Edifício Ip Heng) of the Housing Bureau.

If a beneficiary is unable to provide the proof of life in person due to illness, he or she can ask someone to submit for him/her a proof issued by a hospital, a residential care home or a registered medical practitioner.

Beneficiaries residing outside the Macao SAR can submit the required documents to the FSS by mail or through a representative.

Beneficiaries who are currently residing in Guangdong Province may bring along their valid Macao SAR Resident ID Cards and visit a social insurance agency at all levels in the province to apply for the Proof of Life Verification Form to submit to the FSS for the provision of proof of life.
