2013-09-25

Last month, a delegation of the Social Security Fund (FSS) went to Zhongshan City to participate in Guangdong-Macao Old-age Security Exchange Colloquium, where they exchanged views about the implementation of social security system with the Guangdong representatives and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in old-age security matters between Guangdong and Macao.

On 15 and 16 August, a delegation of 18 people, consisting of Ieong Iun Lai, Head of Department of Social Security, Chan Pou I, Head of Contribution Division, Kuong Kuong Hong, Head of Benefits Division, Sin Vai Tong, Head of IT Division, Chan Yee Ling, advisor to the President’s Office, and others, went to Zhongshan City to participate in Guangdong-Macao Old-age Security Exchange Colloquium.  Guangdong representatives who participated in the colloquium came from Guangdong Human Resources and Social Security Department (GHRSSD), Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of various cities in Guangdong and the Social Security Institute of Human Resources and Social Security Ministry.  In this two-day meeting, the representatives of GHRSSD introduced the development of the old-age insurance system in Guangdong and other specific policies such as legal construction, insurance payment, benefits calculation and payment, and old-age insurance transfer, as well as the related policies of “enterprise annuity”, and the FSS representatives also introduced the double-tier social security system in Macao.

Currently, Macao residents who work in Guangdong will be included in the local social insurance coverage there, and they can participate in their social insurance and enjoy their benefits according to the relevant provisions, while the old-age insurance rights and interests of the former Guangdong workers who settle in Macao are also subject to the relevant legal protection.  Both Guangdong and Macao will actively study the viable ways to converge the old-age security between the two regions in accordance with the “Old-age Security Cooperation Agreement between Guangdong and Macao”, thus strengthening the exchange and cooperation in the area of social security.

During the visit, the FSS delegation also visited the Social Insurance Fund Management Centre of Zhuhai City in order to understand its daily operation and self-service systems.
